Nani Roma and Lucas Cruz (Spain) continue to stand out as the best-placed Mitsubishi runners with one leg of the 2008 Baja Espana remaining. The Spaniards are still second with their Pajero/Montero Evolution MPR13 and spent the day chasing Nasser Al-Attiyah, although they failed to make any inroads into the Qatar-based driver's provisional lead. The pace and challenge of the event are such, however, that none of the front-runners can afford to ease up before Sunday afternoon's finish, and Roma has every intention of maintaining the pressure until the flag.

Following Thursday evening's appetiser, which took the form of a short super-special in Alcaniz, serious business began today with the first of the 2008 Baja Espana's three legs. Competitors were greeted by glorious hot sunshine, with temperatures peaking at 34°C.

Following the victory of Luc Alphand and Gilles Picard (France) with the petrol-powered Pajero/Montero Evolution MPR13 on May's Rali Transiberico, Team Repsol Mitsubishi Ralliart continues its 2008 cross-country program with a three-car line-up for the Baja Espana, round three of the 2008 FIA International Cup for Cross Country Bajas.

Team Repsol Mitsubishi Ralliart's Luc Alphand and Gilles Picard (France) clinched victory with their Pajero/Montero Evolution MPR13 on the 2008 Rali Transiberico at this afternoon's finish in Estoril, near Lisbon.
